As long-time professional photographers and environmental advocates, we enjoy sharing our sense of nature’s beauty and building a better understanding of the natural world.

Early in 2009, we began sending out one or two of our photos weekly by e-mail.  Each “Moment with Nature” includes the photo and a brief textual description involving the place, animal, plant, photo technique, shooting conditions, or whatever else might be pertinent and interesting.  

The photographer’s name is imprinted in the photo, and each mailing goes out under copyright.  We collaborate on the text:  One of us (most often Tom) suggests a topic and develops a concept; the other (most often Nancy) researches content, then expands, embellishes, and otherwise edits text.  There ensues at least one more review, proof, and tweaking before “final copy” is approved and sent.

Along with a growing body of digital photographs, our library of original images holds tens of thousands of 35 mm slides, which Tom is systematically converting to digital format.  After scanning, he applies color, contrast, and sharpness adjustments to each image file to yield the best quality in film-to-digital conversion.  

Recipients have responded enthusiastically to “A Moment with Nature,” and we are pleased to expand its reach via the Web.
